Set in a tight plot, this residence is comprised of 2 flats – the first 2 levels for the parents and top two for the son’s family. Owing to the plot constraint, we had to scale it up vertically to accommodate the client’s requirements. The client wanted the building to look like an individual residence contrary to an apartment. This gave us the opportunity to play with solids and voids in the massing, with the building growing horizontally at every successive floor. The topmost floor cantilevers the most, making the elevation dynamic. A garden deck and swimming pool were introduced at the first floor, common to both the houses. The whole apartment is vastu compliant, with a contemporary touch to it. The color palette is minimal with neutral and wood tones, and a screen wall in the front elevation acting as a focus point.
